After keeping you in suspense for long
enough here we go. After seeing many
theories of what 1300nizpro was going to
be about, ranging from 1300hp engines to
1300 telephone number and much much
more, let me say it will be about many
of these all joined together. Yes it is
a new phone number, Yes we will be
developing a new 1300hp engine for a new
project vehicle but there is way more
than this to be offered.
1300nizpro is a newly formed group of
companies working together within our
industry as an Alliance to help each
other develop better products, services,
and pricing for the performance car
enthusiast.
We will as a group have larger resources
available to develop and test products
and design new performance parts faster
than individual companies. Development
for the new Falcon FG series will be
fast tracked including work on the V6
engine 12 months prior to its release.
An extensive engine development program
will take place on both the highly
modified new in-line 6 cylinder engine
along with testing of Fords new Cyclone
V6. Let me say if Ford don’t release a
twin turbo version of this engine for
the Falcon 1300nizpro will.
The advantages of a well organised group
of performance companies are endless and
I have listed some of the major ones
below. Unlike a typical distributorship
which others and Nizpro have had in the
past an Alliance has far more benefits
for all concerned. Consumers will have a
direct say in products they are after
via their alliance members. Product
range will be able to be tailored to
suit their needs due to direct feedback
to the development arm. We will be able
to specifically develop full kits faster
and more effectively than the everyone
on their own format that has continually
taken place in this industry before. I
have never understood the need for 20
workshops purchasing new cars to go in
separate directions in under developing
products to confusing the public in a
range of products that may or may not be
needed. It has always made far more
sense to work as a group with an end
goal of having the best most cost
effective products available.
1. Project vehicles
2. Cost effective development with
shared expenditure
3. Technical sharing
4. Annual training
5. Monthly meeting discussing consumers
needs
6. Advertising cost sharing allowing
overall reduced product costs
Getting companies involved and a genuine
direction of where this all needs to
head has been far more timing consuming
than I would have ever expected. This is
simply not as easy as finding companies
willing to put their hands in their
pockets to join up. That would have been
relatively simple. Finding companies
willing to work together, share
information and point in the same
direction with the same goals and
industry standard has been far more
challenging. I can say that this is very
close to a reality in most states around
Australia and an announcement of these
companies will be released sometime in
April.
For some of you the benefits are very
obvious and for others you just want to
know about the “Projects”... well hang
on.

Most of you reading this like two
things... (1) BA/F XR6 Turbos and (2)
drag racing. So to combine the two and
launch 1300nizpro at the same time, it
was decided a special drag racing
program was needed.
After being in this industry for over 20
years I have both watched and
participated in low level “street drag
racing”. Over this time I have observed
what were standard street cars go from
beautiful high performance road cars to
miss match drag/road cars. I too have
been a victim of the dreaded need for
speed curse and still am in some form.
Most customers over those 20 years have
all visited the drag strip after
performance work is carried out on their
vehicles, unfortunately some are bitten
and find it very difficult to stop. Now
some might say this helps our business
and you would be very correct. Customers
that simply don’t know and don’t
understand when enough is enough. 20
years of experience has certainly showed
me when this is. Eventually you end up
with what was once a new high
performance everyday road car, that was
enjoyed daily, to a off the road illegal
pile of you know what. I have seen
customers go from driving beautiful VL
Commodore turbo’s everyday to $500
Geminis in the search for another tenth
of a second. The real reality sets in
when you discover that your once pride
and joy is almost worthless to any one
but you, it is un-sellable due to being
un-roadworthy and its still damn slow as
far as a drag race car is concerned.
The answer. How to end up with a sub 10
second, well presented late model drag
car and keep a more user friendly yet
still modified road car for the same
price that you may end up spending on
your road car anyway. Boy... we have
just struck the old cake and eat it too
formula.
Over the next 12 months 1300nizpro and
Performance Ford Magazine will take you
step by step thru every single stage of
purchasing a cheap second hand vehicle
and building a DIY drag car. This story
will be warts and all, every drama,
every breakage... the lot. Along with
pricing of both the parts and tools
required along with the time required.

BA/F XR6 Turbo. This vehicle will be a
full steel bodied car with standard Ford
Falcon running gear. Although throughout
the story we may change the cars
drivetrain from auto to manual, from 4
speed to 6 speed, to show the
differences in performance. It will
remain with standard Ford components
that you will be able to purchase
easily. Step by step we will add
components to improve the cars
performance, starting with a Stage 1
Nizpro Cobra kit and intercooler upgrade
right through to a 1300hp race engine.
Do not expect this car to go and break
record times straight away, this is not
about what a first class workshop can
produce it is about a DIY budget race
program, one that can be done on
weekends with mates in your shed for
about 20k.
